1. Introduction & Identity
This Privacy Policy explains how LegalDraft Technologies LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use PetTrust.io, including our web application, PetTrust.io document tools, and Ask PetTrust AI features (collectively, the "Services").
Our Services provide self-help pet-care planning and state-specific pet-trust packets for states currently supported by the product. By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Personal identification: name, address, email address, and phone number if provided
- Pet-care planning data: pet details, caregiver/trustee/enforcer names, care instructions, funding choices, and other answers you enter to generate your packet
- Saved answers (optional): if you keep “Save my answers to my Vault” ticked when you download your kit, the answers you entered are stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM, with a key held in a separate secrets vault, never in the answers table) so you can download your kit again from any device, edit the answers, or delete them from your Vault at any time. The kit PDF itself is never stored and never emailed.
- Care notes you choose to organize: the pet-care notes you submit to the optional care-notes organizer (PetTrust Help gives fixed answers and sends nothing you type to any service)
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- IP address: stored only as a one-way SHA-256 hash — we cannot reverse it to identify your actual IP address
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
2.3 Payment Information
Payments are processed by Square, Inc. We never receive, store, or have access to your full credit card number. Square handles card data and payment processing under its own privacy and security practices. Please refer to Square's Privacy Notice (opens in a new tab) for details.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Generate PetTrust.io self-help packets based on the information you provide
- Provide PetTrust Help (fixed, pre-written product answers) and the optional care-notes organizer
- Process payments for the services you purchase
- Improve the Platform — analyze usage patterns to enhance features, performance, and user experience
- Comply with legal obligations including applicable state and federal law
- Communicate with you about your account, documents, and service updates
4. How We Share Your Information
We share your information only with the following parties, and only as necessary to provide the Services:
- Supabase, Inc. — secure database hosting with encryption at rest and in transit
- Anthropic, PBC — AI processing for the care-notes organizer when you choose to use it
- Resend, Inc. — transactional email delivery (access codes, sign-in links, receipts, reminders)
- Square, Inc. — payment processing
- Vercel, Inc. — web application hosting
We do NOT sell your personal data. Ever.
We do NOT share your data with marketing or advertising third parties.
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
5. Data Retention
- Pet-care planning intake data: retained until you request deletion, or for up to 7 years where needed for legal, tax, support, or transaction records, whichever is shorter where deletion is required
- AI conversation data: retained for 90 days after the conversation's last activity, then automatically deleted by a daily retention job
- IP hash data: the one-way IP hashes used for rate limiting and security logs are automatically deleted after 73 hours by a daily retention job. One exception: a friends-and-family access code keeps a one-way hash of the first device that used it, for the life of that code, so the code cannot be shared.
- Payment records: retained in accordance with Square's policies and applicable legal requirements
- Saved answers: kept until you delete them from your Vault, and purged automatically 90 days after your plan’s access code expires (daily retention job)
- Account data: retained for the life of your account, unless you request deletion
6. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion — request deletion of your personal data (right to be forgotten), subject to legal retention requirements
- Data export — request a portable copy of your data in a common format
- Opt out of AI processing — simply do not use the care-notes organizer; your notes are then never sent to an AI processor. Records of past organizer use can be deleted on request.

7. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have collected data from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@pettrust.io.
8. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data, including:
- Encryption at rest and in transit via Supabase infrastructure
- IP addresses stored as one-way SHA-256 hashes only — the original IP cannot be recovered
- Saved answers encrypted with a separate key — AES-256-GCM ciphertext only; the answers table never holds the plaintext or the key
- PCI-DSS compliant payment processing via Square — card data never touches our servers
- Access controls and monitoring to restrict data access to authorized personnel
- Secure hosting on Vercel's infrastructure with HTTPS enforced
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. AI and Automated Processing
- PetTrust Help gives fixed, pre-written answers about how the product works; nothing you type there is sent to an AI service or stored. The public AI chat (Ask PetTrust) was retired on September 5, 2026; records from before then are deleted on the 90-day schedule.
- The care-notes organizer is the only AI feature: it reorganizes the pet-care notes you submit (never legal text), only when you click Organize, and you choose whether to use its version. Those notes are processed by a third-party AI infrastructure provider to produce the organized version.
- We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you.
- AI provider processing is governed by the applicable provider terms and privacy policies.
10. Cookies and Tracking
- We use localStorage (browser local storage) to maintain session state — this is not a cookie and is not transmitted to our servers.
- We do not use advertising trackers.
- We do not engage in cross-site tracking.
- We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service provided by our hosting platform. It reports aggregate page-view and visit metrics (page path, country-level region, device and browser type) and does not use cookies, does not track you across other sites, and is never used for advertising. - We do not use any other third-party analytics. If that changes, this policy will be updated accordingly.
11. State-Specific Disclosures
- The Platform provides self-help document preparation services. Use of the Platform does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and LegalDraft Technologies LLC.
- PetTrust.io pet-trust packets are generated for all 50 states and Washington, D.C., each referencing that jurisdiction's pet-trust statute; a plan covers the jurisdiction it was purchased for.
- The Platform does not sell attorney review. For legal advice specific to your situation, consult a licensed attorney of your own choosing; any attorney-client relationship is solely between you and that attorney.
12. Mobile Apps and App Stores
If you use a PetTrust mobile app, the app may collect the same categories of information described in this policy. Apple, Google, or other app-store provider privacy practices may also apply. Please review the applicable app-store provider privacy policy for information about data they collect through app distribution.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on the Platform and updating the "Last Updated" date. We may also notify you by email for significant changes. Your continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
